What about the client who saves?
I came across a quote today from Kobe Bryant (a few times! ..I think it might be going viral in various spaces across the internet) that really hit home: “What about the fans that saved up to watch me just once?” He was talking about his commitment to showing up, giving his all, every single game—because for some people, that might be their only chance to see him play.
Pretty quickly, I was relating that back to photography. About why I do this.
I know that for some families, a photo session isn’t just another thing to check off the list. It’s an investment. A sacrifice, even. Maybe they’ve been saving for months, planning outfits, getting the kids stoked, hoping for just a handful of images that capture the magic of their family as they are, right now.
That’s not lost on me.
Every time I pick up my camera, I think about that. I think about the families who might only book one session with me, the parents who desperately want to freeze this moment in time but don’t know when they’ll be able to do it again. And that’s why I do my best to show up fully, every single time. Because it matters. Because they matter.
It’s easy to get caught up in the business side of things—marketing, editing, scheduling—but at the core of it, this is what drives me: knowing that these photos will be cherished. Hung on walls, tucked into albums, pulled out years from now when the kids are grown, bringing back all the little details that might have otherwise faded.
So whether it’s your first session, your tenth, or the one you’ve been waiting years to book—just know that I see you. And I’m going to give it everything I’ve got. Because this moment? It’s as worth it to me as it is to you <3
Thanks for joining me over in this space where I get to ramble about all the things. It means a lot. Until the next time!
