Mini Sessions vs. Full Sessions: Which One is Right for Your Family?

When it comes to capturing your family’s story, there’s no one-size-fits-all option—and that’s exactly why I offer two different photography experiences through my businesses: Cedar and Oak Photography and Co Collective.

Whether you’re looking for quick seasonal fun or a full, custom session experience, understanding the difference between mini sessions and full sessions can help you choose what’s best for this season of your life.

Let’s break it down.

1. Mini Sessions with Co Collective

  • What they are: Short, themed sessions offered during specific times of the year (like Easter, Sunflower, or Holiday minis).
  • Perfect for: Busy families, milestone updates, and parents who want fun, fast photos of their kids.
  • Who they’re for: Typically kids-only (with the exception of Holiday and Sunflower minis, where families are welcome).
  • What to expect:
    • 10–15 minute sessions
    • Beautiful seasonal sets
    • Limited-time offerings
    • Select wardrobe options for sitter sessions only

Mini sessions are quick, fun, and make the perfect update for your walls or holiday cards—without the commitment of a full session.

2. Full Sessions with Cedar and Oak Photography

  • What they are: Fully personalized sessions focused on your family’s story.
  • Perfect for: Maternity, newborn, cake smash, and family sessions with deeper storytelling and flexibility.
  • Who they’re for: Families looking for a more intentional, relaxed experience.
  • What to expect:
    • Flexible session times and locations
    • In-studio or outdoor options
    • Full access to my curated client closet for momma’s, girlies, and babes under 2
    • Slower pace, more variety in posing and expressions
    • Year-round availability

Full sessions allow us to really connect and capture your family in a natural, authentic way—whether we’re welcoming a new baby, celebrating a milestone, and ensuring years of timeless family photos to look back on.

Which Session is Right for You?

If you’re wanting quick, festive images of your littles in a fun setup—a mini might be perfect.

If you’re dreaming of a custom session that tells your full story—a full session might be the better fit.

Whichever you choose, both experiences are rooted in the same thing: real moments, beautiful images, and making sure you walk away with memories that matter <3

Can’t wait to have you friends!
